To improve outcomes for every student in Boston, we need to build great schools where teachers and students are supported to learn and grow. BPE partners with school leaders to implement school-wide structures and targeted practices that help teachers and students to do their best work.
BPE is creating a network of preK-12 schools in the Dudley neighborhood of Roxbury. BPE Teaching Academies are designed to ensure the long-term success of students and serve as a premier training ground for Boston's teaching force. Our first school, the Dudley Street Neighborhood Charter School, opened in 2012 and Dearborn STEM Academy opened in 2015.
Strategic School Partnerships
BPE works with a set of partner schools, providing instructional support to teams of teachers and residents and strategic data services that help teachers and schools leaders uncover patterns in student achievement and implement strategies that have the highest likelihood of getting students to where they need to be.
Launched in 2013, the Dudley Promise Corps leverages the power of national service to ensure students are reading proficiently by the third grade. Corps members partner in classrooms with Boston Teacher Residency, forming the 90-member Boston Promise Corps, a collaborative effort between Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Governor Charlie Baker, the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative, and BPE.
